        hexagon approach for educators

                                                    “guiding hexagons”

Calling All Teachers, Administrators, Assistants

and School Personnel!!!

MAKE BELIEVE? - The students in our schools love, respect, admire and imitate everything you say and do!  They are watching and listening to all of your conversations and they are noticing HOW you talk, walk, dress, eat and approach ALL situations.  In fact, they are pretending to be you when they play! You are their reference for school and learning.  Your health, your perceptions and your approaches are literally shaping those of our youth.  What do you hope your students see and hear when they observe you?

YOUR HEXAGON IS SHOWING!  Your profession requires you to meet the varying needs of so many including those of the board, the administration, your colleagues, fellow committee members, the community, students’ families and of course all of the unique hexagonal needs of each student. You give so much to so many, but you can’t give what you don’t have!  Professional development begins with personal development and self-reflection is essential for both.  How is your hexagon?

PLAY - Rumor has it that Albert Einstein once said, “Play is the highest form of research.” But once you experience authentic play, you don’t need to hear it from others.   Through play, we learn about ourselves, about others, about our environment, we experience joy and we energize every one of our domains. How do you practice play?

BE IN THE KNOW -  In our society, you serve as an expert on child development, teaching and learning. We depend on you to be knowledgeable about the theories and philosophies that guide our practice including those of  Froebel, Piaget, Erikson, Dewey, Montessori, Vygotsky, Malaguzzi, and Gardner.  We also depend on you to stay connected to what is happening in your field at all levels: local, state and national.

SPEAK OUT! - As an expert, you know about whole-child development, and you know how children learn. You also know the importance of childhood and how precious a child’s innate spirit truly is so please speak out and serve as a voice for children!

THANK YOU! - Teacher Appreciation Day is every day at Hexagon Approach to Personal Development©.
